The two S’s and the R
Simplified our biology stands on the three pillars of Survival, Security and Replication. These all work together and each forms a leg of the tripod. Our genes want to Replicate, our biology wants to Survive so the organism seeks out its own Security. Remember this is a simplification almost too simple to describe our complex nature, but just work with this for now. All too often we are approached by men with cap in hand, asking us how to mend a broken relationship or to get the girl back or even more perplexing asking for assistance to support them to attract their ideal mate. Let us remove the complexity of being in a relationship and the mature qualities you’ll need to be in a healthy one and how to manage it for now.
If you have a pulse, breathing air and of course reading this, it means that your ancestors managed to achieve each of these factors. They survived long enough to make it to sexual maturity, they found a mate of equal standing. They reproduced (Replicated) their genes and had enough Security to raise the offspring to continue the cycle. Fast forward a few millennia and there you are, with thousands, if not millions of years of genetic programing to continue the cycle. Life is of course a little different today than it was so long ago. We find that security is more an enigma as it means different things to different people. For me it is more of an illusion, but we’ll talk more about that in future articles. This still leaves Survival and Replication.
The main factor in all this is the ability to attract a mate, and I’m not just talking about a drinking buddy. I’m talking about the mate which we want to hitch our genetic wagon to for genetic immortality. In today’s age we may not necessarily want children, but we do want sex. So how do we attract this perfect partner into our lives in this modern day climate? Ask yourself the question: What is attraction? Not what is attractive, that is something else, but rather: What is attraction? Most of the time we are left to our own vices bumbling around until we bump into someone (with their own issues) who can stand us for long enough that our genes take over and wanna have sex with them.
